Battle on the Shop floor for that extra commission! WHY?

Blood thirsty sales people battle it out on the shop floor
to make extra commission

I don't know why this is the way we are, especially over the weekend we as team are really nice to each other Mon to  Thursday, you know help each other out with issues, picking the right phones for the customer etc.... pretty pink and fluffy really.

Then the weekend approaches and we all turn against each other, dog eat dog, cherry picking the customers who you know are going to buy and avoiding those customers who are definitely going to waste your time, you know the customers, generally the ones holding the phone in one hand and the instruction manual in the other with a face that says 'WHY DID I BUY IT'.

I blame this atmosphere on the managers and the training, the training is literally 1 week away from home usually 3o miles away, sat in a room being told how to read customers, how to deal with there questions quickly. They even drill into you that the weekend is all about yourself and how much commission you can make over those 3 days.

The managers love pumping us full of energy in the morning especially over those 3 days, sales are down, your jobs on the line, 2 girls phoned in sick, its going to be tough, blah blah blah. We all get it, smash it out the park or find a new job.

Anyway, as soon as the inspirational brief is done its a sprint to wh smiths get tanked up on 'Red bull' have a fag and then let the battle commence, who is the best sales person, who is going to make the most sales and who is going to make the most money.

There are shops out there who don't get paid commission and in turn will give you the better service because of it.
Carphone Warehouse arnt commission based, there based on service
Tesco Mobile and Asda Mobile aren't either.
I believe Vodafone aren't either.

However the rest are..
Three
Orange
O2
Virgin
Tmobile
and of course Phones 4u, they are a prime example of commission based selling, you will find yourself walking into a phones 4u with a decent phone in mind, the sales people are trained to change you mind so that when you leave you have a s**t phone on a long high priced tariff making that sales person more commission in there back pocket.
