Sports Tracker App

Helping you train better since 2004

Sports Tracker is an award-winning application and online service developed by a passionate team of outdoor sports enthusiasts and mobile experts, in cooperation with our users.
We’re on a mission here: we want to help people train better, connect through sports, and live healthier, happier lives. And we want to do this using mobile phones: the fact is, after all, that most outdoor enthusiasts already have sports computers their pockets in the form of smartphones – those gadgets just need to be activated with the right application.

By joining the Sports Tracker service and downloading the free application to your smartphone, you’ll launch your training to a whole new level. Easily track and analyze your exercises and have fun training by sharing your workouts and photos with your friends and other similar-minded people via the Sports Tracker community, Facebook and Twitter. You’ll enjoy monitoring the development of your progress like never before.
Sports Tracker is one of Nokia Ovi Store’s most downloaded applications, with millions of downloads from more than 200 countries. The combined tracked distance by our users reached a whopping 130 million kilometers in September 2011.
And the distance is increasing ever more rapidly, with the introduction of our iPhoneAndroid and Windows Phone applications.

A bit about our background

We started Sports Tracker in 2004 while working at Nokia. Our application was the first of its kind for mobile phones, so we can safely say the we’re the category founder and leader in our field. Our original vision was to come up with an easy and fun training application that would help people train better and connect them with each other.
Back then there were no phones with GPS, no smart phones, no Google maps. But like runners preparing for a marathon, we knew that if we’d just sweat it out, we’d reach our goal.
And here we are seven years later on our own (after a successful spin-off from Nokia). As of today, after millions of downloads and with an ever-increasing group of active trackers worldwide, we’re still the same sports enthusiasts and mobile geeks ourselves who want to carry on developing Sports Tracker and help people train better and enjoy themselves.

What Mobile Phone Platform Would You Choose?

Its all about the apps
doesn't really matter about the phone as such.

When iv been going round the shops the most common question i heard was kids saying to there parents i don't want that phone if i cant get Angry Birds.. WTF!!!

Not all apps work off the same operating system or 'Platform'. There are several on the market, each with a different range of apps available.
Depending on which handset you go for depends on what Platform your on, for example IPhone 4s your be on the IOS 5.... the other platforms out there are Android, windows and blackberry.
Each platform is slightly different but operates pretty much the same way, its worth looking at your apps store to find out what you can get especially whats free.....

Below is a list of the 4 Platforms with bits of info chucked in there..

Blackberry App World
Blackberry makers RIM said recently that 140 Million people downloaded apps on App World every month, (I'm not overly convinced with that statement)They sell a lot of phones and tablets, so this will likely be their next big drive, even though App World claims to be the second most profitable behind Apple.

Android Market
Expect to hear more and more about google's Android system. App downloads on Android market are likely to leapfrog Apple's in 2012, making it the most popular of them all. It's just as good as Apple's to use and there alot more FREE apps.

Windows Marketplace
The unique selling point of Microsoft's app marketplace is the Xbox live games. But with fewer downloads available and some popular apps almost 3 times as expensive as the big two. Windows wants to catch up, after their beautiful looking software 'Mango' update, apps are tying in Microsoft's unique ideas. If you've got a computer with windows 8, you can simultaneously edit word and excel docs on the sky drive cloud.

Apple Store
Ever since Steve Jobs showed off the original IPhone in 2007, using mobile devices has never been the same. Even though rivals have made ground on apps, developers still flock to sell on Apples App Store. With half a million apps to download in one click, its user-friendly interface still makes it the Critics favourite.

For me my favourite platform has to be Android as it has sooooo much free stuff from games to ringtone the works really....
